History

Newark Indoor Bowls Centre was completed in 1988 by Mr Pat Boyle a local builder. The Centre is located on the Newark Showground which was formerly the R.A.F. Winthorpe Airfield.

In 1991 Pat Boyle decided to sell the centre and the club raised money to purchase the building. Members of the club offered interest free loans to help in the purchase of the centre. These loans were paid back when the club was in a position to do so and now own the club.

When the Club was first opened approximately 900 people enrolled. This number has gradually reduced over the years and membership is now around 400 men and women. Newark has produced both National and County champions but its main aim is to provide a thriving centre that can be used by all.
